This book describes all the naturally occurring eucalypts in the goldfields region of Western Australia, a vast area of 640 square kilometres incorporating the world-renowned Great Western Woodlands and the Western Australia section of the amazing Great Victorian Desert.

Within this vast area there are 173 different eucalypt species and subspecies, which represents around 20% of all known eucalypts.

Of the 173 eucalypts, 158 are described in detail over a double page, featuring:

  • Images of the whole plant, bark, buds, flowers, and fruits

  • Distribution map for all species across the goldfields

  • Distinct characteristic features described

  • Notes on how to identify the species

  • Distribution and habitat details

  • Detailed botanical description

  • Meaning / origin of the name

  • Seedling painting by Ian Roberts

  • Conservation Status included for all species

  • 368 pages; over 1200 colour illustrations

The remaining 15 eucalypts extend marginally into the goldfields and are briefly described.

16 species and subspecies are described in full for the first time.

46 species and subspecies are endemic, only occur in the goldfields.

Designed and written for those with no botanical training, but also catering for the professional, this book will be most valuable for all those interested in appreciating, identifying and growing the unique eucalypts of Western Australia’s Goldfields.

The authors are pleased to bring to you this first ever book, dedicated exclusively to the amazing eucalypts of the goldfields of WA.
